The Decay Devils hosted a Slow Roll with several community partners in Gary’s 1st District on September 26, 2020. They started at the Ken Parr Build a Bike which is stewarded by Gary’s Miller Spotlight volunteers.

On Saturday October 3, 2020 we were happy to attend and garner survey data at the 3rd Annual Outdoor Adventure Festival. This event was hosted by several community partners; VOCART, Causes for Change International the Indiana Dunes National Park, The Stage Small Business Incubator Gary, and Gary’s Miller Spotlight. This is the 4th year this legion of partners highlighted adaptive recreation options in Gary. The Outdoor Adventure Festival is patterned after the Outdoor Adaptive Escapade which was hosted by Gary’s Miller Spotlight’s action group volunteers, Access Miller in 2017. The OAE kicked off with 500 people in attendance doing activities across the 46403 zip code. In 2018 & 2019 the festival expanded to Lake, Porter and La Porte Counties. This year they had to do a much smaller scale event due to Covid. They held an open house where people from across #NWIndiana were able to give input on up and coming projects, tryout adaptive equipment and discover helpful resources available to the ADA community. Thank you Marquette Park UMC - Gary for graciously being the event host site. For more info about the recreational equipment lending library please contact the Douglas Center and for more info on how to get involved in ADA activities go to VOCART.org.  (Photo credit #VOCART)
